"Telling My Story With Diabetes"

What is your diabetes story? How were you diagnosed? How did you feel when you were diagnosed? How do you manage your diabetes? The answers to these questions are important, especially for young people. This A1C Champions® program was created for youth ages 7 to 13 years old with type 1 diabetes. Workshops are led by an adult with type 1 diabetes who can relate to many of the same challenges that the participants may face.

Other topics covered in the session include:

  • Living with type 1 diabetes
  • The importance of the A1C test
  • How to control your blood sugar and manage your diabetes
  • Making choices that can help you reach your blood sugar goals
  • How diabetes affects the body
  • How to balance food, physical activity and insulin
